KCPE 2021 – Form One Placement Unveiled

Parents are now able to check the secondary schools their children have been placed in following the launch of the national form one selection earlier today.

According to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha, all the 1,225,502 candidates who sat for the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams have been placed in 9,200 public secondary schools across the country.

To check the school your child has been selected to send their index number to 22263. The SMS costs SH 25.

Reporting Dates

The reporting dates for form one students have been set for  3rd  May 2022.

Magoha has cautioned school heads against making the cost of joining form one burdening to parents by inflating the list of school requirements with unnecessary things like hockey sticks and pangas.

“I’m still the head of Ministry Education, I will come for you. The idea is to get children admitted in school,” Magoha said.

The Ministry released the KCPE 2021 results two weeks ago. The exams were postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic that disrupted the 2020 academic year.

100 percent education transition policy

Access to basic education is a constitutional right of any child in Kenya. Any parent who is Kenyan or whose child resides in the country is mandated to enroll them for primary and secondary education.

In 2018, the government adopted the Policy on Universal Access to Basic Education, which to ensure that all children are enrolled in Primary School and complete their Secondary School Education, with a 100% transition rate.

The policy is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4, which among key targets seeks to ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education.

Free Education

The Government introduced  Free Primary Education in Kenya in 2003 with recent statics showing that the enrollment rate (GER) increased to 104 percent in 2018. Free secondary education was also introduced in the country in 2017 but is currently only applicable to day schools.
