CEO Kenyatta Hospital Denies Rape Allegations

The management of the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has denied the rape allegations on its maternity corridors saying that they have never received complaints on the issue.

KNH CEO Lily Koros has strongly dismissed the stories circulating on social media as untrue saying that the allegations have been made in bad faith.

“The social media reports are made in bad faith. KNH management and staff wish to assure patients their care and security is our top concern,” Koros said in a press conference.

Ironically, at the same time, Ms Koros said that they have written to the DCI to investigate and if there is any truth action will be taken.

Kenyans have taken to social media to condemn Koros for downplaying the rape accusations.

Rape Threats In KNH Maternity Wing

It took a social media post on Facebook from a concerned citizen to bring to the fore the plight of sexual harassment faced by female patients, not just limited to mothers in Kenyatta hospital.

Victims have since come out in droves to share their experiences, with most of the accounts sounding like scenes from a horror movie.

“One day I had a Surgery done at KNH to remove a growth on the abdomen, I has spinal anaesthesia, the one which they “kill” you half way, I couldn’t feel my lower body .

The guy who wheeled me back from theatre user a different lift , the one they use to take Bodies to the Morgue…

While alone , he touched my breasts and was telling me the way they’re sharp, he touched My Vagina and told me , you can’t feel anything , then he was making fun of me how I can’t raise my legs, I don’t know how long we were in that lift , I don’t know what else happened because I passed out only to wake up at my hospital Bed.

Those are animals, I got nightmares about that incidence for a very long time,” one of the victim shared anonymously on the Facebook page Buyer Beware.

Health CS Cleopha Mailu has ordered for a probe into the reports that mothers are waylaid and raped in the elevators and along the corridors of the maternity wing.
