NGO Board Raises Alarm Over Suspicious Sh530m Donation To Rosemary Odinga Foundation

The Non-Governmental Organisations Coordination Board has written to the central bank to have accounts of an organisation associated with Rosemary Odinga suspended over what it terms as political funding.

The board is accusing Ms Odinga of receiving a suspicious Sh530 million donation from the George Soros Foundation, through the Key Empowerment Foundation, where’s she is a Patron and Trustee.

In the letter sent to CBK governor Patrick Njoroge on Tuesday, NGO Executive director Fazul Mahamed says that the George Soros Foundation is associated with political funding across the globe.

“The aid agency that has funded the foundation is associated with subterfuge political activities globally and nefarious regime change tactics,” he said.

The board further accuses Rosemary of operating several illegal and unauthorized bank accounts.

The directors of the foundation were identified as Rosemary (Trustee and patron), Jaqueline Moraa (chairperson) and Meshack Odede (secretary).

Others are Harold Omondi (treasurer) Sandra Adhiambo (board member), Salome Owuonda (board member).

According to the NGO Board, the organization is using the foundation’s bank accounts as a cover up strategy for money laundering and diversion of donor aid, contrary to the provisions of enabling regulations and has asked the FRC to probe it.

The Board has urged the Director of Financial Reporting Centre (FRC) to investigate the financial accounts to see the unlawfulness of the said organization and its culpable directors.

Rosemary Odinga is the daughter of Nasa flagbearer Raila Odinga.
