Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero will on Thursday appear before an anti-corruption court to answer to charges on graft.
Kidero was arrested on Wednesday by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers.
According to a statement from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) the former Nairobi Governor and 10 others will be arraigned in court to answer to ‘various charges related to corruption & related economic crimes.
“EACC received information concerning alleged criminal activities involving Nairobi County Government (NCCG) officials touching on the mismanagement and embezzlement of public funds,” the statement read in part.

In March, a report by audit firm KPMG, revealed that Sh21 billion was not accounted for by Dr Kidero when he left office last year.

Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko has in damning allegations said that the late advocate Steven Kariuki Mburu, who died under mysterious circumstances last week, was killed for his key role in a SH 58 M corruption case.
“The late Karis was a key witness in case where millions meant for Nairobi city-county were misappropriated and ended up in individual accounts,” Sonko said.
Sonko further alleges that Kidero was involved in the graft scandal and millions of sh were transferred to his personal account at Family Bank Ac 068000004475.
