In an announcement made at the Bomas of Kenya National Tallying Centre, Wafaula Chebukati, the Chairman of The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has formally declared Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of the Kenya’s re-run presidential election held on October 26th, 2017.

Uhuru Kenyatta won 7,483,895 votes, 98.27 percent of the votes cast in an election in which opposition leader Raila Odinga called a boycott of the poll by his supporters, in which many tens of thousands of registered electors were prevented from casting their vote and many IEBC were attacked or intimidated and forced to abandon their work in administering the election.

Registered voters – 19,611,423

Valid votes cast – 7,616,217

Percentage of valid votes cast against registered voters – 38.84%

Raila Odinga – 73,228 votes (0.96%)

Joseph William Nthiga Nyagah –5,554 votes (0.07%)

Mohamed Abduba Dida – 14,107 votes (0.19%)

Japheth Kavinga Kaluyu – 8,261 votes (o.11%)
