Detectives have arrested political aspirant and renowned psychologist Gladys Chania in connection with the gruesome murder of her husband Engineer George Mwangi.
Mwangi’s body was found in Kieni forest wrapped in a black polythene under a heap of cartons and empty bags of cement, a day after the wife reported him missing.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Gladys is believed to have masterminded the murder of her husband following her discovery that the father of their three children was having an affair with another woman.
The DCI further alleges that investigations show that the suspect was assisted by a newly employed casual labourer and other accomplices in committing the murder, which is believed to have taken place in their bedroom.
“Pieces of blood-stained metal rods, blood-soaked bed sheets, stained curtains and clothing were part of the exhibits that were recovered in the house by the sleuths based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory,” the DCI said in a Twitter thread
The deceased is a contractor and businessman with interests in real estate and has been working in the neighbouring country Rwanda. He had sired three children with the main suspect with whom they had been married for over 20 years.
Glady’s unsuccessfully vied for the Kiambu Woman Representative seat in the last general elections.
